I think there is a lot more to the story than ketosis or very low carb for everyone. In my own experience, high carb works much better. I tried very low carb for a long without really feeling amazing, I then switched back to high carb and quickly lost weight and leaned out. I still eat high carb and my strength is better and I'm even leaner now. I find it very difficult to overeat (I obviously eat very 'clean diet').

I went to a functional dr. to get treated for adrenal fatigue, etc. and the supplements in combination with a Keto diet I was able to lose the 20 lbs and then some…I’ve gone through stalls, but when I reworked what I was doing I was able to get back to the weight I was when I got married 22 years ago…a big mistake people make with Keto is ingesting fat b/c it’s a “high fat” way of eating…if weight loss is a goal, you only take in dietary fat after you’ve lost the body fat…if you ingest too much dietary fat, your body burns that first, then body fat…another mistake is eating when you’re not hungry…there’s nothing that says you have to have 3 square meals a day, or even 2 for that matter…I eat 2 meals a day, breakfast and dinner, the size of the meal depends on how hungry I am…listen to your body, that’s the most important part…there are some awesome cookbooks out there by Maria Emmerich, I honestly don’t feel deprived at all, and I have a huge sweet tooth!!! Diet Doctor is another good resource for Keto info…I wish I could stuff my face is a huge slice of pizza (dairy is another issue for me) but knowing how I’ll feel the next day, it just isn’t worth it for me or my health!

You state that many athletes and very active people could benefit from 100-200g of carbs a day, and be back in ketosis in a few hours. Any particulars on which kind of activities or say how long/many training sessions would benefit from this to balance hormones. No matter how stuffed we are, the most primal parts of our brain will typically tell us that there is room for more if a novel food source is available. Are you sure you have your percentages correct? Keto is 80% vegetables , 10% fat and 10% proteins. The diet you seem to be talking about sounds like Atkins. As a diabetic, keto has given me normal blood sugars with much less insilin, no more cravings, no more hunger. I’ve also lost 12 pounds in 6 weeks since I started it. Look up Dr. Berg. It seems strange that a diet that calls for more fat can raise “good” cholesterol and lower “bad” cholesterol, but ketogenic diets are linked to just that. It may be because the lower levels of insulin that result from these diets can stop your body from making more cholesterol. That means you’re less likely to have high blood pressure, hardened arteries, heart failure, and other heart conditions.
Pro Tip: Kick-start ketosis with a teaspoon or two of MCT oil or Brain Octane Oil. MCT oils are medium-chain triglyceride fats that bypass the lymphatic system entirely and are uniquely absorbed by the liver in much the same way as carbs. Forget the word “diet”. I’m eating low carb/keto for about two months now. Before, I was always hungry, always thought about food. My stomach never felt good.
